Winter shows in northeastern PA: Several inches of snow remain on the ground and temperatures have been frigid for a few days. Our bird feeder is busy with finches (gold-, purple, and house), chickadees, cardinals, titmice, juncos, and bluejays. Lately we’ve seen Carolina wrens for the first time. However we can’t watch birds all day as there are designs to fabricate and winter exhibits to prepare for.
Last summer I held on to found bird feathers and nests and let ideas develop. My first two “nest boxes” are on exhibit now at the Afa Gallery in downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania. Jay has fused panels in the Winter Members Show which runs through February. The opening reception is Friday, February 6, 6:00 9:00 pm. The Afa Gallery is located at 514 Lackawanna Avenue, Scranton, and at http://afa.jgrabowski.com. Hours are noon to 5:00 pm Thursday through Sunday.
In the Pocono Mountain region we are represented by the Silver Arrow Gallery, Tannersville. On Saturday, February 7, the gallery will be open so you can meet the artists between 5:00 and 6:00 pm. Call 570.619.0461 for further information. Directions are at www.silver-arrow-gallery.com
Our next big exhibit is March 28 29, 2009 at the Philadelphia Invitational Furniture Show, which features exceptional artisan-made furniture and furnishings in a boutique setting. This is a marvelous show at the Cruise Ship Terminal. To learn more visit http://www.pffshow.com; to obtain a discount pass, contact us (570.585.2096 or firstname.lastname@example.org).
By then winter may have yielded to spring.
